What is Green Shape®?
An environmental standard for clothing and textile products with clearly defined requirements for materials, processes, and product design.

Is Green Shape® compliant with the EU’s “Empowering Consumers for the Green Transition Directive”?
Yes. Green Shape® will meet the requirements of the Empowering Consumers for the Green Transition Directive for environmental labels once the German Accreditation Body has completed its program review.

Who is behind the Green Shape® Standard?
The Green Shape Standard is administered by the non-profit Green Shape Association for the Promotion of Environmentally Friendly Clothing and Outdoor Textile Products (Green Shape e.V.). 

Who are the key players in the Green Shape® Standard?
The Green Shape Association for the Promotion of Environmentally Friendly Clothing and Outdoor Textile Products(Green Shape e.V.) is both the trademark owner and the program owner of the Green Shape® Standard. It grants the right to apply for certification under the Green Shape® Standard in accordance with its certification regulations, as well as the right to use the certification mark

Companies wishing to obtain certification for their products are manufacturers of products according to the list of goods and fulfill the requirements of the trademark owner's award regulations. 

Certification bodies conduct third-party certification in accordance with the Green Shape® certification program

How can you contribute to the further development of the Green Shape® standard?

The Green Shape® Standard is continuously being updated. Green Shape e.V. reviews the assessment program, all associated processes, and applicable documents at least every five years, as well as whenever there are significant changes in market conditions, in consultation with relevant stakeholders. Further details on the involvement of all relevant stakeholders can be found in the certification program.

Who can be certified?
Manufacturers of products from the approved product classes that meet the conditions of the award regulations .


How long is a certificate valid for?
Three years. Annual surveillance audits are mandatory.


What role do existing third-party certifications play?
Green Shape takes existing environmental certifications into account, provided they meet verifiable criteria. This way, companies with already certified supply chains benefit in two ways—reliable supply chains and eligibility for Green Shape certification.


Can I use the Green Shape® brand right away?
No. Use is permitted only after certification has been completed and a valid license agreement is in place.
